Jan Williamson

Jan Williamson is a professional artist who lives on the Sunshine Coast Queensland, and specialises in portraiture and figurative works. As a mother of nine children, she understands the innocence of children wholly asorbed in their own play and oblivious to the world around them, and this is reflected in her work.

Jan is a self-taught artist working mainly in oils, and her "people" paintings capture the spirit and essence of the subjects. Her work is widely hung in Australia and overseas. Her portraits have been selected as finalists in the Archibald Prize, Portia Geach, Salon de Refuses, Shirley Hannan, and Portrait Artists Australia exhibitions. Her subjects include:-

Rachel Ward, Actor/writer. This portrait won the Archibald Packers' prize
David Williamson, Australia's leading playwright
Jenny Morris, Singer/songwriter. This portrait won the Archibald Packers' prize and the People's choice in both Sydney and Melbourne
Nancy Kunoth Petyarr, Senior Indigenous artist from Utopia, NT
Tom Carroll, Australian and International surfing champion
INXS's Andrew Farris, Musician/songwriter
Wayne Bennett OAM, Australian Rugby League Coach
Emeritus Professor Patrick de Burgh OAM
Anne Geddes, Photographer
Collette Dinnigan, Fashion designer
Sue McPherson, Artist and teacher.

Jan is also a foundation, exhibiting member of Portrait Artists Australia, an association launched in 2001 to promote portraiture in Australia.
