Francys Flanagan

"Words, strung like pearls on a page, paint a picture. Music tells the soul a story. Colours and shapes on a canvas make the heart sing. Three doors into a magical and lovely place that God's gift, imagination, allows us to enter. As a child I strolled at will through these doors and lived in that place. As I "grew up", I never left it.
In 1977 God gave me another gift in the person of artist Dick Turner. Dick gave a fortunate few the tools needed in order to use paint and canvas to take others into that world of beauty and peace. A world that might catch at your imagination and cause you to ask, "What if....."

Francys Flanagan is a painter who is driven by a passion for self-expression through art. Her works are often noted for their unique style, elegance and technique. Francys paints with a style that blends precise realism with impressionism. Her use of vibrant colors and soft edges make her work an excellent choice for a wide range of projects and purposes.

Francys is accomplished in using the traditional glazing technique first developed by the old masters. Her work has been influenced by several outstanding instructors. However the greatest influence on her art was the late Dick Turner of Houston, Texas.

"From the time I was a small girl I knew I would be an artist. I just didn't know what kind. I read book after book about painters, musicians, dancers, and writers. Then in 1977, through a chance meeting with artist Dick Turner, I knew that I too would be a painter. I was so overwhelmed by Dick's work and mental approach to it that I immersed myself, soul and body, in that pursuit. I studied with Dick from 1977 until 1982, taking 5 and 6 classes a week at his private art school, sometimes driving several times a week from my home at the time in Sherman Texas to his studio in Houston."

Francys has also received instruction from William Reese, William Henry Earle, Carolyn Anderson, Greg Greutz, Roberta Carter Clark, Ray Vinella, Jean Chambers, Scott Burdick and Daniel Greene. She is presently represented by Prellop Gallery in Salado, Texas and Visual Expressions Gallery in Cedar Hill, Texas.

Francys teaches group and private lessons at her studio in Ferris, Texas and is an instructor at the VECAS Art School in Cedar Hill. She is available for Club Demonstrations and workshops.
