Lyra Garcellano is a visual artist from Manila, Philippines. Her works have focused on identity, human rights, and concepts of paralysis and movement. For most of her art career she has done installations but beginning 2007 has recently incorporated painting. She has always been interested in the whole idea of diaspora and the reasons and struggles that come with it. For six months she is in New York for an artist-in-residency grant courtesy of the Asian Cultural Council.
