Simon Davis

Simon was born in Stratford-upon-Avon and studied illustration and graphic design at Warwickshire College and Swindon School of Art.

This year he won second prize in the National Portrait Gallery’s BP Portrait Award.



• 1988-90 Worked as Graphic designer/illustrator
• 1990-92 Freelance book/magazine illustration.
• 1993-present Illustrated comic-strips for various publishers - mainly for British Comic 2000ad. Much of this fully-painted work has been syndicated worldwide and collected by Hamlyn and Rebellion Books in the UK, Egmont in Germany and DC Comics in the US. Storyboarded music videos and TV ads including Muse, Tori Amos and Barclaycard. Commissioned and non-commissioned work in Oils and gouache.
• Exhibited at numerous joint shows in Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the Cotswolds.
• 2004 Elected an Associate of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA).
• 2005 Elected a full member of RBSA.
• 2006 Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Mall Galleries.
• 2007 Elected as Honorary Secretary of RBSA.
• 2007 Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Mall Galleries.
• 2007 RWA (Royal West of England Academy) Autumn Show.
• 2007 Elected Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
• 2008 2nd Prize BP Portrait Award, NPG, London
• 2008 Elected to council of Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
