Dayananda K Kamakar's "Woman" Series the critically remind John Berger’s "Ways of Seeing". Berger makes clear that images of social difference work not simply by what they show, but also by the kind of seeing that they invite. He uses the expression "Ways of Seeing" to refer to the fact that whenever we look just at one thing, we are always looking at the relations between things and ourselves. "One might simplify this by saying: men act and woman appear. Men look at women. Women watch themselves being looked at. This determines not only most relations between women and men, but also the relation of woman to themselves. The Surveyor of woman is herself is male; the surveyed female. "Berger, 1972). Kamakar with fresh eyes immersing himself in his sources and paying attention to details is ambitious. In this context his looking himself, Durga, Girl with a Parrot, Women Musicians, and Reminiscence of a Woman & Lady with lotus are remarkable. Here some hues of feminist interventions are powerfully perceived.

Dayanand Kamakar is one of our recent artists who have shown considerable promise. In his recent works one can see a depiction of our society. Though the themes of his works are from amidst us they have been brought out very differently in the medium of art. The composition and use of color is attractive and present a style of their own. Lines do add to the meaning. Many of the paintings have drawn source and inspiration from folk themes and motifs. The textures mesmerize the viewer. Even though the paintings highlight women the presentation is stylistic and compliments the theme and idea.
