Artist's Satement: These sculptures are created in reaction to how women are portrayed in popular culture and the politics of gender relationships. They relate to how women view themselves and how women are viewed. I present a narrative, using images of women, which explores the expectations of femininity and identity.







Katy Rush is an adjunct professor at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Crafts from the University of Illinois and her Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the University of Florida. In 2005 she received the Emerging Artist Award from the National Council on Education for the Ceramics Arts. She is an Albert Murray Grant recipient, and has served funded residencies at Watershed Center for the Ceramic arts, Walbrzych Porcelain Factory, Walbrzych, Poland, and at Guldagergaard, Danmarks Keramikmuseum, Museum of International Ceramic Art, Denmark.
