Charalambos Papadopoulos was born in 1952 in the city of Krasnoyarsk, in Siberia, in the Greek family which still had Greek citizenship. Later his family has moved to southern Kazakhstan in the city of Kentau. In 1974 has arrived in the Krasnodar art school. Has continued education in Peterburzhsky Academy of arts.
Participated in large exhibitions, in such countries, as Australia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, Norway, Portugal, Russia, the United States of America, Finland, France, Sweden, Japan.
Pictures are in the largest private collections of Europe and America.
Since 1991 lives in Greece where successfully continues the work and the calling.

He was born in Larissa, Greece in 1962. He studied (1983-1989) at the Highest School of Fine Arts in Athens, Greece. He took Painting, Byzantine Icons' Technique, Fresco, History of Art, History of Architecture and Rhythmology. With the scholarship of the French Government he continued with post-graduate studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris (1990-1992), Atelier de la Peinture of Mr. Pierre CARRON.

His work is located at the Greek National Gallery, at the Kouvoutsakis Pinacotheque, at the "AGET HERACLES" Group of Companies Collection, at the Frissiras Museum Collection, at Papastratos Collection, and other private collections in Greece and abroad.

The end of Chaos in the painting of Elena Papadimitriou

Elena Papadimitriou’s painting startles viewers, as it questions by its very nature and position all we were familiar with, to date, concerning the use of canvas: seeking alternative expressions, it settles onto alien surfaces, possessed by layers of organic motifs, which, divested of their established context as confine-bound decorations, are propelled, like frantic fragments of a kaleidoscope, into overflowing spheres of action; delineating novel worlds; gesturing to new galaxies; mapping out a terra incognita of incorporeal matter that the painter attempts to embody.

This quest for the concave and the convex in a land of endless spirals, which Papadimitriou persists in roaming; the painstaking memorising of the medieval embroidered valley of mille fleures; the dense placement of heraldic motifs that hark back to the age of Persian legends, of the Byzantine Empire and chivalry; her pictorial hoe, that likes to investigate the finds of warding Chinese dragons; her selective discourse with Gustav Klimt’s ornate gold-frosted friezes, commenced several years ago, at the time when she first installed her female figures on the surface of mirrors, while seeking a perspective on painting that was as neutral as she could possibly achieve: “When it comes down to it, I am the one who is in the mirror, sealed air-tight in relation to the outer world. This very mirror also reflects the outside reality”, the painter elucidates.

In the cut-up figures that are placed sometimes off-centre and at other times in partial refraction on the mirror, the clothing, ornate and painted in excruciating detail, engulfs the action of the form it clads, and silently mutates into a low-tone alter ego, forming, when it comes to it, separate canvases in and of itself. The human figures however, gradually lose their volume, become flat and are sublimated, vanishing into the flatness of the painting surface. And although the mirror was initially chosen by the painter due to its established neutrality, if it was utilised as a glittering and naked field for self-knowledge; or as a frozen winter lake that favours poetically suspended shapes; a passage into painting surfaces that are differently textured - it reinforces the conviction that this specific discovery was never chosen as a means to itself.

An essential challenge for Papadimitriou, this game of in and out; of I and other; of positive and negative; the impression of a space that is “full”, where the figure, almost always alone and lacking any complementary objects, almost always female (the exception is “Vertigo” suspended, where the female and the male are identified with fire and smoke respectively), continues to exist in isolation, to encounter the extrovert affectation of shapes, materials and colours with its voluntary sojourn “Inside”, with the refreshing pauses in “Breath In” and “Breath Out”, with the exercises in self-awareness that are “Emergence” and “Division”, with the pale white aura of “Illusion” and the luscious red one of “Filtering”, with the glittering lights of “Dazzling”, with the decadent shades of a dull gold mosaic in “Fall”, with the historical memory and the inevitability of destiny that run through “Déjà vue”, with the circular portraits of “The Three Graces”: Fronisi - Prudence, Armonia - Harmony, and Lethe – Oblivion, with the airy feathers of a fallen angel arriving on earth, with the metaphysical weight of “21 Grams” and the healing power of sleep.

To achieve this impression, Papadimitriou calls upon the wonderfully self-subverting dance of patterns so characteristic of her work. Patterns that, according to her, may mean nothing more important than a disparate gathering of all the small things we fear and love: coils that join emotion with logic, the present with utopia, the crux with detachment, chaos and continuity. The primeval decorative crosses, where the horizontal line symbolises the female, while the vertical symbolises the male. The terrifying dragons of fairytales, which in Chinese culture symbolise good fortune. The successive lines that lead to infinity, seeking to join the imperfect with the perfect; Klimpt's hortus conclusus wth the infinite. According to Alois Riegel, just as “defining the limits between decor and symbol is one of the hardest feats to pull off, the attempt continues to offer a fascinating field of endeavour”. According to Richard Gregory, on the other hand, “The sense organs receive patterns of energy, but we seldom see patterns; we see objects. A pattern is a relatively meaningless arrangement of marks, but objects have a host of characteristics beyond their sensory features. They have pasts and futures; they change and influence each other, and have hidden aspects which emerge under different conditions”.

Yiannis Adamakis was born in 1959 in Piraeus, Greece.
He has presented his work in 30 private and numerous group exhibitions in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Russia and Turkey. He also took part in the Art Fairs: ART ATHINA (Athens, 1994, 1998), ART JONCTION (Nice, 1997), LINEART (Gent, 2000) and ART PARIS (Paris, 2004).
He is working in Greece with the Zoumboulakis Galleries.

Jess Riva Cooper is a ceramic artist and educator currently based in Toronto, Ontario. Cooper received her MFA in ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design and her BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Cooper has shown work and participated in artist residencies throughout Canada and the United States, such as Brandeis University, Lillstreet Art Center, Medalta, Wassaic, and The Archie Bray Foundation.

Artist Statement

In my art practice, I integrate colour, drawing and clay to create installation-based artwork. I study the foundation myths of the Golem and Dybbuk spirits in Yiddish folklore and reinterpret these traditional stories through a female lens. I also investigate fallen economicand environmental climates in regions such as Detroit, Michigan, where houses have become feral, disappearing behind ivy, trees and Kudzu vines that were planted generations ago. In my sculptures, the world sprouts plant matter. Colour and form burst forth fromquiet gardens and bring chaos to ordered spaces. Nature reclaims its place by creeping over structures. Wild floral growth subvertspast states, creating the preternatural from this transformation.

I see a direct parallel between my interest in insidious plant life and a malevolent Dybbuk spirit, which takes over the human body. Inboth situations a loss of control is suffered as the parasitic entity subsumes the host. In my current studio practice, I explore therelated idea of demonizing the non-human other as it is exemplified in the Hebrew term for Dybbuks, hizoniyim, outsiders.

My work draws on the historical representation of the figure in art. By introducing anthropomorphic forms into my installationenvironments, I am able to depict the extremes of embodied human experience. Sculpting the figure, this most familiar of forms,allows me to illustrate the physical and emotional vulnerability of the individual in day-to-day existence.

"Que ce soit en chine , ou dans un pays étranger , je ne prends pas au sérieux la peinture , ni l'art , ni la vie.. Je trouve que je n'ai pas beaucoup changé . Comme avant , je continue d'aller voir de temps en temps les expositions d'artistes en tout genre , qu'elles me plaisent ou non . C'est devenu pour moi un divertissement quotidien . Dans un contexte ou toutes les formes d'art rivalisent les unes avec les autres , je n'ai jamais analysé pourquoi je continue à me consacrer à la peinture . C'est sans doute parce que je ne parviens pas à trouver quelque chose qui me plaît davantage . Face à la toile , accompagnée de quelques tasses de thé je suis toujours satisfaite de cette insouciance , j'ai toujours mes histoires à raconter , comme aujourd'hui . (...)
Dans cette société ou bouillonnent les images , dans cet empire entièrement dédié à la consommation , nous sommes amenés , par habitude , à en oublier la valeur de l'existence ; de chaque existence . Quant on pense à la sienne , on oublie celle des autres .

La toile est un intermédiaire entre moi et mes personnages . J'essaye de dialoguer avec eux en les sculptant , en les caressant . l'idée c'est de ressortir la beauté de la peau , la beauté de la vie . Chacun de mes personnages , qu'ils aient la peau noire ou blanche , est figuré par des couleurs , des frottements de pinceaux , ils portent en eux toute la tendresse qui m'appartient et ma grande admiration . Je veux qu'on puisse vraiment sentir leur souffle qui , à travers l'image , murmure mon éloge de la peinture et celle de la vraie vie..."

D. Andreadakis (b. 1964), acclaimed artist and professor at the University of Crete, 60 sets of paintings, oil paintings and watercolors, on the human form in all its aspects. It is basically a retrospective report, with projects throughout the 25-year artistic career, focused on the performance of face and body (portraits, figures in space, bare), gaze and expression of the human in various versions and different stylistic textures.

















Dimitris Andreadakis was born in 1964 in Chania, Crete.

He studied in the School of Fine Arts of Athens, under Dimitris Mytaras (1985-1991). From 1991 to 1996, he was a postgraduate student at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was taught by P. Carron and V. Velickovic. During his undergraduate and postgraduate studies, he received scholarships from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation, the French Government, the Onassis Foundation and the Leventis Foundation.

Works by Dimitris Andreadakis can be found in the Koukoutsakis Gallery, the Frysira Vlassis Collection, the Stelios Bergeles Collection and numerous other private collections in Greece and other countries.

Margarita Papasideri was born in Athens, in 12 of February 1969. She has lived in USA and Great Britain and obtained a BSc in Psychology at Goldsmith’s University of London. Making art for me is like breathing: underpinning my day-to-day concerns are cycles of inspiration and expression. I look to art for evidence of human awareness and concern, and I invest my own thoughts and caring into my art-work. My measure of my work is if others are moved by it, and I value my work for the dialogue it creates between me and its viewers. I am continually amazed at the stories that my pieces draw out of others, deepening my understanding of the images I've made.

I believe that by choosing to engage with something, we encounter an opportunity to develop and to become. Art is the language I understand with which to engage the world."

"Nous sommes le fruit de nos rencontres, de ce qui nous absorbe, nous façonne, nous déplait. Nous sommes la somme de toutes les choses qui s’accumulent dans nos vies. En cela, nous produisons et reproduisons l’ensemble des éléments qui s’imprègnent en nous. De cette longue marche d’existence, c’est le pinceau qui est venu à moi comme outil d’expression, de dissection, de contemplation du monde environnant. Un rempart entre le réel et l’imaginaire, un bouclier contre la violence, la brutalité, et toutes sortes d’affectes qui se plantent comme des couteaux dans la fragilité de l’âme.

De toute chose qui s’ouvre à la vie, elle retourne à la terre, au végétal, et restitue son manteau de plume, paré de dorures et de masques burlesques, à la Terre- source originelle. Des veines de la main coule le réseau filandreux de motifs organiques et spongieux, dans laquelle l’encre devient maitresse. Et le lâcher prise, un clin d’œil à la nature de la vie : Inconstante, véritable, pure, incontrôlable.

Cette peinture est un exutoire à la souffrance, une abolition de l’art du paraitre, une protection, une couverture, un masque amniotique, une introspection vers son être intérieur, un regard contemplatif du dedans au dehors."

José González Collado (n. Ferrol, La Coruña, Galicia; mayo de 1926), es un pintor, dibujante e ilustrador español


González nació en Galicia en el año 1926, a los 12 años ingresó a la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Ferrol, que fue fundada en 1881, la más antigua de este tipo en Galicia, por la que pasaron numerosos jóvenes ferrolanos, algunos de los cuales llegaron a destacar en la pintura. A los 17 años recibe su primer premio en la Exposición de Arte, Educación y Descanso, en La Coruña (1943); a los 18 gana el primer premio en la V Exposición de Arte del SEU, en La Coruña y le conceden una beca de ayuda juvenil con la que se irá a estudiar a Madrid. Su primera exposición individual fue en 1944 cuando tenía 18 años en el Casino Ferrolano.
En 1945 se dirige a Madrid para estudiar pintura. El afán de aprender es enorme y a diario visita el Museo del Prado: siente fascinación por Velázquez, admira a Goya al que considera el mejor pintor del mundo, precursor del impresionismo y de la pintura moderna.
Realiza el examen de ingreso en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Madrid, dibuja, a tamaño natural, una figura de una escultura griega de dos metros de altura. Aprueba con el número 2, en un curso de 90 alumnos. En la escuela aprenderá sobre forma y color, técnicas y estilos.
Viaja por el norte de África, Marruecos y Argelia, donde pinta nuevos temas y otros colores. En 1957 viaja a París donde se empapa de museos y pintores, en el centro mundial de las últimas tendencias artísticas desde el siglo XIX. En 1959 vuelve a Madrid, y allí permanece hasta 1997, año en que regresa a Ferrol, donde monta su nuevo estudio en el sigue trabajando.
Finalizando el año 2006, el Ayuntamiento de Ferrol le organiza una Exposición Antológica, a sus ochenta años, donde presenta más de 160 obras que constituye un éxito de crítica y público. Al mismo tiempo le es concedida la insignia de oro de la ciudad, y se urbaniza una plaza frente a su estudio que llevará su nombre, Plaza de José González Collado.
Ahora vuelve a pintar al aire libre, directamente del natural los preciosos paisajes gallegos, su tierra entrañable.
