Elena Khmeleva was born in 1966 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. In 1986 she entered the Saint-Petersburg State Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture named after I. Repin, Department of Painting. Elena was in class of great Russian professor Vetrogonsky and, as far as her faculty for painting was obvious for teachers, she got a permission to attend special Academy courses, where the main subject was the Academic Painting and special features of Social Realism. Still Elena herself is keen on Impressionism and at ease paints in any tradition, she can be called a heiress of the traditions of Masters of Soviet Union.

In 1992 Elena studied for a year the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and participated in 8 exhibitions in different parts of Germany. In 1994 she graduated the Saint-Petersburg Academy with excellent diploma and yet decided to continue her education at Academy in the Creative Workshop. There she polished her skills till 1999.

Since 1994 every year Elena’s personal and union exhibitions are held all over Europe: England, France, Belgium. In 1998-2000 she painted few series of illustrations for two English Publishing Houses.

Elena is a member of the Union of Russian Artists.

During few last years she spends most of time in France, but her home is still in Saint-Petersburg.

Elena’s works can be found in the collections of the Academy of Fine Arts ( St. Petersburg ), Museum of History of Saint-Petersburg, Bridgeman Art Library, Union of Russian Artists, Adult and Community College (Richmond, USA), “N.B” Gallery (France).
Also her paintings and graphics are in private collections in USA, Japan, Netherlands, Germany, France, Finland.

He was born in 1937 in Razgrad region, Bulgaria. Since 1970 he has been participating regularly in the general art exhibitions in Sofia, Bulgaria and in the country. In 1973 he became a member of the Union of the Bulgarian Artists. He has been taking part in exhibitions in Hamburg and Berlin, Germany; Moscow, Russia; Warsaw, Poland; Paris, France; London, England and in New York, USA. He presented sole exhibitions in Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, Lausanne, etc. His works of art are in possession of the National Gallery of Arts and also of individuals and institutions in Japan, USA, England, France, Russia, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Austria, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Argentina, Italy, Finland, Turkey, Greece, etc. The artist lives and works in the town of Razgrad, Bulgaria.

Over the years the artist's efforts are to build own plastic system of principles, which he is following in the creative process
These principles evolve over time, changes in the artist's desire to be adequate and be in harmony with himself.

Born on august 8th 1950 in Malchika, Pleven region.
IIn 1975 he graduated from Art Academy, Sofia in painting.

In 1982 he participated in Biennial of painting in Kostice Czechoslovakia.
In 1996 he participated in International Triennial of painting in Sofia.
In the period between 1994-1996 the artist has participated in exhibitions in Alberty Gallery, London.
Since 1997 the painter has been exhibiting his paintings in Galiardy Gallery, London.

Many of Nikolai Karadjov's paintings are owned by:
The Bulgarian National Art Gallery and also by galleries in Ruse, Pleven, Lovetch, Plovdiv, Pernik, Burgas, Kazanlak, Stara Zagora, Razgrad, Dobritch and others.
His art is to be seen in private collections in Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Germany, Austria, USA, Belgium, England, Norway, Brazil, Venecuela, Netherlands and Turkey.

Nikolai Karadjov lives and works in Ruse.

Born in 1952 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In 1972 graduated the Art school in Sofia. He works in the field of painting. 1978-1999 he was painter in National Bulgarian Television. He has 16 individual exhibitions and many participations in common exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. He has a prize “ Silver Vazrazdane ” for painting. Lives and works in Plovdiv.

Jan Williamson is a professional artist who lives on the Sunshine Coast Queensland, and specialises in portraiture and figurative works. As a mother of nine children, she understands the innocence of children wholly asorbed in their own play and oblivious to the world around them, and this is reflected in her work.

Jan is a self-taught artist working mainly in oils, and her "people" paintings capture the spirit and essence of the subjects. Her work is widely hung in Australia and overseas. Sally Ryan

Sally Ryan, an Australian artist living and working in Sydney, began her career as a graphic designer before moving into teaching. It was not long, however, before she returned to the visual arts, pursuing an interest in pattern and design through painting ceramics. She won several prizes in this medium and completed a number of commemorative commissions for various institutions during this time.

For many years drawing and painting the human figure has been a passion for Sally and this has led to her focus on portraiture and figure painting. She studied art part time at a variety of art schools before enrolling at the Julian Ashtom Art School. Since winning a scholarship there for 2010 she has been studying and painting as a full time artist.

Her style is best described as "contemporary realism" and includes works in graphite, charcoal and oil with life-like representation of the subject being of utmost importance. Design has become a compositional feature in some of her portrait paintings with backgrounds consisting of strong colour, pattern and design. Other works are more traditional and this is influenced by the nature and interests of the person she is painting.

Mertim Gokalp

Mertim Gokalp is a Sydney based artist of Turkish origin who has been recently granted a distinguished talent visa by the Australian Government to allow him to live and work in Australia. He has moved to Sydney in 2009 and since then he has been working from his studio in Balmain.

Mertim’s training at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts Academy, Istanbul, has prepared him well for a career in portraiture, and in the five years that he has been living in Sydney he has been selected as a finalist in all the top portrait exhibition here: the Archibald Prize in 2013; the Doug Moran Portrait Prize in 2012; and the Black Swan Art Prize in 2011. In addition he has hung in other regional shows like the School of Visual Arts, New York, 2012 with an Honorable Mention; and the Sydney Hunters Hill Regional Art Prize, Winner in 2012; and Highly Commended in 2011.

Artist Statement
To me, painting is a synthesis of my feelings, inspirations, reactions and struggles; it is a way of breathing in and out…Painting portrait is one of my passions as it is a great area to explore the underpinnings of human psychology. Using the narrative potential of portrait painting, I aim to challenge the viewers and confront them with their most inner feelings.

My portraits are not literal representations of people posing or sitting. These are subjective portraits of the psyche. All portraits reveal something about the subject, but they are open to many interpretations as they are enigmatic most of the time.My portraits are a celebration of the human form.
​
Similarly, I aim to capture particular psychological moments of the places, and my landscape paintings are not literal depictions of
places. Instead, the landscapes I paint reflect my subjective relationship with the places.

As an artist trained in a Fine Arts Academy, I always appreciate and try to live up to the standards of great academic masters.
The inspiration is to incorporate my observations into my unique style.

Alberto Andreis, si è diplomato all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera a Milano corso di scenografia.

Dal 1983 al 1989 è stato assistente dello scenografo Ezio Frigerio, partecipando al progetto per le scene del film “Cirano De Bergerac” di J. P. Rappeneau, Oscar 1990 per i costumi e nomination per le scene.

Ha preso parte come assistente alla progettazione di vari spettacoli con il regista Piero Faggioni. Nel 1985 firma la scena del del suo primo spettaolo al Theatre de Carouge di Ginevra con “Le Batteau pour Lipaia” di Arbuzov. Contemporneamente estende la sua esperienza di lavoro nel settore della decorazione d’interni collaborando con Celeste Dell’Anna e Diana Terragni.

Come pittore è stato invitato ad esporre a numerose mostre quali ad esempio “Ultime Generazioni” alla XII Quadriennale d’Arte di Roma del 1996, oppure “Surrealismo Padano da De Chirico a Foppiani” (catalogo Electa) nel 2002, così come nel 2007, per la mostra “Arte Italiana 1968 - 2007” a Palazzo Reale a Milano.

Ha occupato inoltre la catedra di scenografia all’ Accademia di Belle Arti Santa Giulia di Brescia. Vive e lavora a Parma.

Artist Statement
I often turn to humor to address serious or controversial subjects in my artwork. With my still life paintings of toys I am examining how symbols are interpreted by individuals and through the lens of cultural dogma. My intention is not to promote a particular concept or ideal, but to inspire analysis and contemplation in my viewers.

And through my portrait series modernizing ancient Greek myths, I explore how our digital age relates to archetypal stories that have been passed down through the millennia.


Elizabeth McGhee is a native of southern California, from a family of artists from Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and Scotland, as well as the local Laguna Beach art scene. She is currently represented by Don Beres Gallery and theartgallerist.com

A figurative oil painter trained in the classical realist tradition, she graduated from Laguna College of Art and Design in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting. Elizabeth has also studied with Marc Trujillo, Sergio Sanchez, John Brosio, Jason Dowd, and master painter Lance Richlin.

Lisa Ober



Lisa Ober is a professional portrait artist specializing in oil and pastel portraits. She is most known for her ability to depict the likeness and personality of her subjects with a finely executed attention to detail and an obvious fondness for classical realism. A native of St. Louis, Lisa began painting portraits in 1983 while working on her BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration at Washington University. Initially, she intended to pursue a career in commercial illustration, but by 1987 her growing list of clients coupled with her enthusiasm for painting people led her to take a leap of faith and pursue a full time career as a portrait artist instead. She has since enjoyed consistent private and corporate commissions including paintings of major league sports figures, noted religious figures, United States Supreme Court Justices, corporate executives, government officials, and private individuals. She has also illustrated several books. Her work resides in private and institutional collections across the U.S. and abroad. Lisa co-owns Ober Anderson Gallery in Kirkwood, Missouri and is a Signature Member of The Pastel Society of America

Andrew M. Kish III



Born 1980 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Andrew Kish III began drawing in his early childhood. He studied Communication Design and Painting and later received his B.F.A from Kutztown in 2007. During this time he studied under esteemed watercolor artist Matthew Daub. In 2008 Andrew become an artist in residence at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem Pa. He teaches the art of watercolor painting and has lectured on “Art in Society” as well as “The Business of Art” at universities and institutions throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

“Using metaphors and symbolism I create complex human narratives in an intimate setting. These narratives incorporate social and political commentaries that revolve around provocative contemporary issues. Each painting explores the intersection of social institutions with my personal life, and the constant quest to communicate. By using a contemporary approach to traditional watercolor painting, I am stretching the boundaries of aquaralle in the United States and abroad. The stark contrast, immersive detail, and delicate painting technique offer a new experience to a polarizing and unfairly criticized medium.

“When I began working with watercolor, I became addicted to the challenge it presented. The possibilities of expression are endless. My obsession for drawing on paper had finally found a home.” Andrew explains “Using this ancient and unforgiving medium, I am exploring the possibilities of thought provoking artwork. By working within the framework of watercolor painting, I am forced to invent and evolve with each project. I believe the energy of this constant struggle is encapsulated in each painting, and then translated to the viewer.”

Kish’s paintings have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions including the Shanghai Zhujiajiao Intl. Watercolor Biennial at the Quanhua Art Gallery in Zhujiajiao, China and the 2012 National Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibition. His work is represented in public and private collections including the Quanhua Art Museum, the Stach Collection in Slupsk, Poland, and the Tullman Collection in Chicago IL.

Kish’s work has been included in multiple publications including The Art of Watercolor, Watercolor Artist, Watercolor Magazine, and Professional Artist Magazine. Andrew was recently awarded the prestigious Award of Excellence in the Shanghai Zhujiajiao Intl. Watercolor Biennial and the A.J. Casson Medal at the Open Water Exhibit in Alberta, Canada as well as numerous other awards from national and international exhibitions. He currently is represented by himself and maintains a studio in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where he resides with his wife and son.

Born in Naples, Luca Indraccolo left Italy to pursue a career in advertising. This 15 year long career took him from Germany, to New York and eventually London. He gave up a position as a creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi London to pursue a new career as a fine art painter. Having started his art training in New York, Luca moved first to Florence then London to study painting. He is now based in London working as an artist.


Current Paintings
As an artist I strive to create paintings that communicate the character of my birthplace: Naples, Italy. I want people to see this complex city through my eyes. Each painting tells a subtle and different story of local culture or personal experiences through my own distorted memories.

My medium of choice is oil paint. I enjoy the contrast of using a traditional medium to create contemporary works, reflective of the ancient culture that is still a vital part of this modern city.
I endeavor with every brush stroke not only to represent an image, but also to capture Naples’ grit through the texture of the paint itself. The imagery is deliberately cinematic as I try to tell a story with one single image.

Per Elof Nilsson Ricklund is born 1987 in a small town in the northern part of Sweden. Growing up close to nature early inspired him to work with the stories it presented. What things cannot grow from an impression like that in ones imagination.
Drawing quickly began the preferred tool to tell his stories with, growing up with grandparents that were landscape painters offered him a great deal of inspiration. Just seeing what they got out of nature, the vast landscapes and mountain chains of northern Sweden, an impression that made you want to step into the paintings and experience the scene himself.
The craft in itself feel short, wanting to tell more than his mind could grasp, this made Per Elof search to enhance his craft by studying nature more closely, trying to capture the essence that strikes every person in daily life, may in the a landscape scene or the expression of a face. And by wanting to put his focus on this he found his way to the Florence Academy of Art, a school which has helped him to see nature with more opened eyes. As an alumni he now works there as an Anatomy teacher.

"Right now I’m inspired by the Sámi culture of northern Scandinavia, going back to my ancestors, seeing and experiencing a culture still living in close connection with nature. Here is where he finds most of his subjects and inspiration."

statement

I have always held drawing in a kind of reverence, both as an art form in its own right and as a foundational skill for other arts. When I was trained in the classical tradition of oil painting, it was a touchstone and constant companion--first throughout several years worth of studies in charcoal and pencil, and finally, when my teachers allowed me to begin painting, a question that accompanied each brushstroke: "Does this paint I'm putting down improve the drawing in my picture?"

Even now, out of the painting academy and working on my own, I find myself frequently returning to the pure drawing I was taught as a neophyte painter. With these studies of the figure in pencil or portraits in charcoal, I have the chance to concentrate on questions of line, shape, and value--in other words, drawing, the hard skeleton that will give structure to a painting or teach one to produce a subtly-varied line that expresses form with elegance and economy.

Euan Uglow

Euan Ernest Richard Uglow (10 March 1932 – 31 August 2000) was a British painter. He is famous for his nude and still life paintings.


Euan Uglow was born in 1932 in London. As a child, he lived in Tulse Hill in south London, where his father was an accountant. Uglow went to the local grammar school in Tulse Hill, Strand School. Afterwards he studied at Camberwell School of Art from 1948 to 1950, during a time when Camberwell students studied under artists such as Victor Pasmore, Lawrence Gowing, John Minton, Kenneth Martin and William Coldstream. Uglow was influenced by Coldstream whilst at Camberwell, although he believed that another tutor there, the painter Claude Rogers, was more significant in his development. Nonetheless, when Coldstream left Camberwell to teach at the Slade School of Art in 1951, Uglow followed him, and remained a student at the Slade until 1954.
Refusing compulsory military service, Uglow was registered as a conscientious objector in 1954, and spent two years undertaking community work, assisting in the restoration of a war-damaged church by Christopher Wren in the City of London, redecorating the house of the artist Patrick George, and helping on a farm in Surrey.
Success in art was not immediate, and he did not sell a painting until eight years after leaving art school. During this time he took a variety of part-time teaching jobs, most notably at the Slade from 1961, an institution with which he was to be associated for the rest of his life.
In 1962 he was at the centre of a storm at the municipal art gallery in Bradford, Yorkshire, when a local councillor, Horace Hird, had one of Uglow's paintings, German Girl, removed from an Arts Council exhibition at the gallery. Hird claimed the painting 'offended decency'.
Despite this, Uglow was generally a shy artist who shunned publicity as well as honours, including an offer to become a member of the Royal Academy in 1961. However, he did become a trustee of the National Gallery in London in 1991, although, in his own words, he was generally ignored by the other trustees.
Uglow's first solo show was in 1961 at the Beaux Arts Gallery, but his slow and methodical working method did not lead to a large number of solo shows. In 1969 he exhibited drawings at the Gardener Centre at Sussex University, in 1974 at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London and then periodically at the Browse & Darby Gallery in London. He also took part in numerous group shows, including exhibitions of the London Group and the annual John Moores Prize exhibitions in Liverpool. In 1981 he took part in the exhibition Eight Figurative Painters at the University of Yale Center for British Art in New Haven, Connecticut, USA, and in 1984 in The Hard Won Image at the Tate Gallery, London. In 1992 he featured in the exhibition British Figurative Painting of the 20th Century at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and in 2000 in the exhibition Encounters at the National Gallery in London. In 2002 a posthumous retrospective was organised by the Arts Council for England, entitled Spotlight on Euan Uglow, which toured around Britain. In 2003 there was a retrospective Euan Uglow: Controlled Passion, Fifty Years of Painting at the Abbot Hall Gallery, in Kendal.
In 1980 Uglow was invited by the artist Stass Paraskos to become the first artist-in-residence at the new Cyprus College of Art arts centre in village of Lempa on the island of Cyprus.
He has work in the collections of the Arts Council of England, the British Council, the National Museum of Wales, the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull, Glasgow Art Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Southampton City Art Gallery, the British Government Art Collection, the Tate Gallery and The Hepworth in Wakefield.
Uglow died of liver cancer at his home in Wandsworth, London, in 2000.
The Estate of Uglow is represented by Marlborough Fine Art, London.

About the Artist

Award winning painter Eric Bowman began his career as a commercial artist in southern California creating original oil paintings for such high profile clients as Coppertone, Nike, GTE, Hallmark, Kellogg's, Nabisco, Southwest Airlines and the Kentucky Derby.

His work has also adorned the covers of TIME magazine and The Saturday Evening Post, along with numerous books, music CD’s and other popular periodicals. His original oil paintings reside in many private and corporate collections including the offices of Major League Baseball, the NBA and the United States Postal Service.

As a fine art painter, Eric has garnered many awards in juried competitions, showing in national & regional exhibitions in some of the country's most prestigious galleries. His paintings are in collections around the world, including England, Australia, Canada and Mexico.

Eric Bowman is an artist member of the Oil Painters of America, a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and artist member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. He lives with his wife and daughter in Tigard, Oregon.

Sherry Lee Short is an artist, teacher, writer, and activist. She received her Master of Fine Arts with Distinction from the University of Georgia in 1988. Following, she taught art, education, and women’s studies at Minnesota State University Moorhead through the mid-1990s.



At that time, her interests in social justice turned her life towards a different career path. From 1994-1999, she served as the executive director of the Women’s Network of the Red River Valley (Moorhead, Minnesota). From 1999-2001, she served as the executive director of the Minnkota Health Project, a program that serves persons affected by HIV/AIDS in rural areas in half the state of Minnesota and seven counties in North Dakota.



In 2001, she was drawn back to the arts. From 2001-2012, she taught full time in the Department of Art & Design at Minnesota State University. Currently, she continues to teach drawing and art business courses in the Department of Art & Design and is also serving as the Director of Women’s and Gender Studies.



Although a figurative artist for most of her artistic career, Short’s most recent artistic focus has been landscape. This work also reflects her fondness for drawing media and works on paper

About Dima.

Dima Dmitriev was born in Moscow, Russia, and is the second generation of artists in his family. He moved to Prague, Czech Republic, where he graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design. As his paintings gained attention and praise at fine art exhibitions throughout Europe, Dima became one of the most talked about young artists living in Prague’s flourishing artistic community. Dmitriev has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Europe, North America, and Asia.

Dmitriev’s paintings represent forms of “visual paradise”. He describes this as the process of extracting the color, light, and texture from real places and distilling these onto his canvases as idealized worlds. Dima rarely uses a brush. His preferred tool is the palette knife. Dmitriev also adds depth and color saturation to some of his works by starting with black, rather than the traditional white, canvas. Dima’s Impressionistic composition and style combined with his mastery of the palette knife create oil paintings that are vibrant and sculptural. His works often include themes of childhood, nature and the sea. Numerous institutions including AT&T, Vodafone, or AWD Holding AG have acquired his paintings for their art collections. His works are also in private collections in the Czech Republic, United States, Spain, Germany, United Kingdom, Russia, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Australia, Qatar, and the Dominican Republic and others.
